If the Fourth of July makes you think of Mom and apple pie, I bet your family puts on quite the festive BBQ spread for the holiday. Summertime is when families gather for reunions, pool parties, road trips, beach outings, etc. At these get-togethers, everything falls into place spending time with the people who know you best. Older siblings can laugh reminiscing about childhood arguments about keeping to their sides of the backseat on long trips. Grandparents can spend time with visiting grandchildren. Parents can take it all in. Family visits are also a great time for family portraits, especially if you only get to see each other over holidays. You may be taking informal snapshots at the gatherings for that very reason. All the better to also have professional session photography to ensure images where everyone is indeed looking at the camera and looking their best. Kat Mack Photography helps families decide on location, clothing and other logistical considerations to make sure the whole family is well represented. For shoots on-location outdoors, we recommend the session start early to avoid the higher temperatures of midday and afternoon. Morning light is very flattering too. In addition, for those who prefer air conditioning, Kat Mack Photography has a 3,000 sq. ft. studio in Houston with sets and backdrops for a variety of looks. Family photography has grown to become the core of the studio's craft and we can chronicle your children's milestones from cradle to graduation. Photographer Kat Mack is experienced with sessions for infants and can recommend timing for shoots to get the optimal poses of babies. She enjoys working with tots and older siblings, and gets a young crowd excited about posing for pictures. Kat did get some help recently from a big sister who was showing her little brother how to smile by pulling the sides of his mouth wide. It definitely was a hand-on approach by the sister. Usually, the smiles come naturally, such as with the toddler boy and his visiting grandparents. The child was a sheer delight and the love of his doting grandparents comes through in the portraits. Each family is unique and the photographer homes in on the dynamics as well as the individuals to capture their personalities and interactions. As Kat says, it's not just one big group shot. Instead, there are multiple poses and groupings to capture the family dynamics and show different perspectives. The resulting images can be of siblings, siblings and parents, just the parents, each parent with children, etc. We also really love multi-generational sessions with grandparents. Kat Mack Photography is also pet-friendly and we often include dogs in family portraits because, after all, if you have a dog, then you know your pooch is part of the family. The edited images can be printed on a variety of products, including prints and framed pictures; albums; and wall collections, including canvasses. For high school age children, we also offer sports banners, senior portrait albums and graduation announcements. For mother and baby, Kat Mack Photography offers an heirloom collection of fine art portraits. We also can incorporate family portraits into beautifully designed holiday cards. If you want to plan ahead, we can take Christmas card portraits this summer. After all, even if the whole family wears Ugly Christmas Sweaters, they can stay cool inside the studio. Although, we are not recommending Ugly Christmas Sweaters! If you would like to learn more about Kat Mack Photography family portraits, just give us a call or drop us a line. We would love to learn about your family and how our session photography approach will suit you.
